What the hell is Branding anyway?
It’s a promise you make to your customers. The foundation of your values. The reason why you exist.
Branding informs business decisions, improves employee morale, and creates trust in the marketplace.
When people think of the term “branding”, the first thing that comes to mind is a logo. But a logo only skims the tip of the iceberg of what branding really is. When it comes to branding your organization, products or services, branding expresses the value and truth of your company – the differentiation, the special sauce.
It’s the communication of the characteristics, values, and attributes that paint a clear vision of what your brand is or isn’t. It helps to encourage those unsure consumers out there that your product or service aligns with them and directly supports whatever sales or marketing activities are in play.
Why is branding important?
Branding allows you to stand apart from your competitors and forms the bedrock for potential customers to know what to expect from you, your products, or services.
Be unique, stand out, and disrupt the game in your industry.
The best brands do this by first and foremost being consistent. They are honest, truthful, and real about who they are, what they stand for, and where they are heading. It aligns consumers with your value proposition and allows them to fall in love and march to the same beat of those values.
Consumers need a subtle push when they learn about your brand to ultimately feel a connection towards it. They connect to the idea that your brand confidently says, “This is what I am and why you need me.” When a company lacks strong branding, there’s no chance to draw in that immediate deep connection. The emotional attachment increases the chance of brand loyalty, meaning repeat and lifelong customers as well as new ones from word-of-mouth.

Brand Look & Feel
You never get a second chance to make a good first impression.
In the modern world, the first impression is what separates those who make sales and those who do not. We live in a hyper-sensitive society where people quickly separate those who put in the effort to keep evolving and those who do not.
With all of the competition within industries these days, people make decisions instantaneously. The brands that stand out and grab the attention of consumers are the ones who have created a full and meaningful brand identity. If you think of a brand as a human being, it would have an appearance (colorway, logo, typography), and a personality (mission, vision, values). That’s why branding is so important. It draws your target demographic in and says… “let’s be friends.”

Brand Messaging Pillars
What you say speaks volumes about who you are and what you stand behind.
To create a strong, powerful, and lasting brand, you need exceptional and relatable messaging that utilizes the power of storytelling.
Unlike traditional communication, storytelling doesn’t push influence on us, rather they pull us into becoming influenced. Brand messaging – the voice of your brand – is one of the most powerful tools in your marketing arsenal. If done correctly, it makes your product or service unique and memorable. It engraves your brand into the consumers’ memory. It is what gets the consumer to ultimately remember you, then choose you over your competitor – over and over again.
