BD & Communications Director

Title: BD & Communications Director
Location: Shanghai
Position: Full Time
Reporting to: Managing Partner

 

A great new opportunity has come up for a dynamic individual to join our growing team to help strengthen our Agency’s leadership position in China and globally. In this role, the individual will lead the development and execution of PR strategies as well as drive new business with a focus on lead generation, responding to business inquiries, leading business pitches (as required) and ensuring that our branded messaging across all internal and external touch points is consistent.    

 

Key responsibilities will include:

 

PR / Communications 

  • Developing the PR & communications strategy, including the marketing, events and content calendar 
  • Managing and executing the Agency’s branded channels including website, social media platforms and direct marketing  (LinkedIn, Instagram and so forth)
  • Collaborating with our creative team to develop assets that will be used across different external touch points
  • Identifying third party and other co-brand opportunities to optimize performance and exposure of social efforts
  • Collaborating with copy writers to produce and write content to be used across multi-channels. 
  • Conducting market research, online news monitoring, listening and community management as required
  • Providing senior counsel to clients on brand communications and PR strategies, as required
  • Producing monthly reports on media/digital coverage as required

 

New Business

 

  • Developing and executing strategies to generate new business leads through brand PR and communications
  • Maintaining an understanding of local and global industry and client news and strategically interpret how this could influence new business opportunities
  • Leading and managing the new business pitch process and responding to business inquiries as required

 

The ideal candidate will have the following skills:

  • Minimum 10 years working experience, preferably in a multinational or international environment, preferably in a creative or branding agency
  • Been based in China for several years, and has a passion to bridge China and the rest of the world.
  • A strong community and network of media and influencer contacts with a proven ability to generate coverage
  • Strategic Leadership skills and the ability to help resolve problems independently
  • Experience in driving new business in a Agency environment
  • Exceptional communication skills (verbal and written in both Chinese and English) and ability to manage communications with senior level clients
  • A passion for creativity, arts and social media
  • A willingness to learn and work hard to get it right
  • The ability to juggle a million things at once, work under pressure, and still deliver great work
  • Experience with WordPress and/or Photoshop would be a plus

Communications / Marketing Intern

Title: Marketing or Communications Intern
Location: Shanghai
Position: Min 4 days per week
Reporting to: Marketing Specialist

 

We are looking for passionate, research-savvy, and digital natives to join us as a interns!

 

Here’s a glimpse of what you’ll be doing at our studio:

  • Assisting our client servicing team members on a range of tasks including by not limited to research, competitive analysis, pitching stories to the media and learning what it takes to manage an integrated communications project
  • Facilitating and helping to manage third-party digital and/or media partners, and identifying relevant resources based on client briefs
  • Helping with research on the latest news and trends in China, pertaining to specific categories and needs. Key sectors include F&B, luxury, retail, hotel and travel.

And most importantly: Having fun and sharing your passion and creative ideas with the team and seeing your work come to life!

 

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Marketing, Media & Communications, or any related industry field
  • Previous experience in copywriting, and/or translating key marketing documents (from English to Chinese, and vice versa)
  • Some experience and familiarity of either pitching to the media and working with media partners, or in digital and social media
  • Working hours are negotiable, but a minimum of 4 days is preferred
  • Must be fluent in Chinese (Chinese Native is preferred)
  • Be able to converse including reading and writing professionally in English

Design Intern

Title: Design Intern
Location: Shanghai
Position: Min 4 days per week
Reporting to: Graphic Designer

We’re looking for several passionate, energetic and ambitious individuals to join us as design interns.

 

Here’s a glimpse of what you’ll be doing at our studio:

  • Assisting our creative team in all aspects of graphic design and learning what it takes to manage a creative or design project
  • Facilitating and helping manage the partners and suppliers we work with
  • Gaining a better understanding of the design to application process

Most importantly … having fun, and sharing your passion and creative ideas for great design with a very talent team who love what they do!

 

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Visual Communication, Graphic Design, or a related design-based major
  • Strong understanding and fluency in using design programs, such as Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop, Indesign
  • Some experience and familiarity with using other design programs is also valued, although not necessary
  • Fluent in Chinese
  • Be able to converse including reading and writing in English on a professional level

Executive Assistant/Office Manager

The Orangeblowfish is an award-winning independent creative agency with teams across China, Australia, United Kingdom and Americas. We’re at an exciting growth stage and looking an extremely organized, independent and presentable Executive Assistant/Office Manager to support the Managing Partner in all daily activities, meetings and travel arrangements as well as any communication and coordination within the Agency, partners and clients.

 

This role is fast paced and rather demanding, requiring the ability to juggle a million things at once, and with great detail, precision and professionalism. The ideal candidate needs to be fluent in English and Chinese, have great elegance to manage conflicting priorities and difficult negotiations as well as the professionalism to represent the Agency’s senior representatives.

 

The ideal candidate will be responsible for:

 

Executive Assistant duties such as:

  • Serving as the primary point of contact for internal and external stakeholders on all matters pertaining to the Managing Partner, including those of a highly confidential or critical nature. Prioritizing and determining appropriate course of action, referral, or response, exercising judgement to reflect Managing Partner’s style and organization policy.
  • Completing a broad variety of administrative tasks that facilitate the Managing Partner’s ability to effectively lead the Agency, including but not limited to: assisting with special projects; designing and producing complex documents, reports, and presentations; collecting and preparing information for meetings with team members and outside parties; composing and preparing correspondence; maintaining contact lists; making travel arrangements; completing expense, mileage and other reports as required.
  • Working with the Management Team to coordinate the Managing Partner’s outreach activities. Following up on contacts made by the Managing Partner to cultivate ongoing relationships.
  • Acting as a liaison and providing support to the senior level meetings of the Agency. Specific duties include (but not limited to) arranging and handling all logistics for management meetings and events: scheduling meetings; drafting agendas; developing, compiling, and distributing presentation materials; and recording meeting minutes on behalf of Managing Partner and adhering to compliance with applicable rules and regulations set in bylaws regarding Board and other Agency matters.
  • Working closely with the Managing Partner to keep all stakeholders well informed of upcoming commitments and responsibilities, following up appropriately. Acting as a “barometer,” having a sense for the issues taking place in the environment and keeping the Managing Partner updated. Anticipating the Managing Partner’s needs in advance of meetings, appointments and so forth.
  • Maintaining open communications with the team, including meeting regularly with their department head and providing information and documents as needed.
  • Coordinating all Management team meetings, company retreats and assisting with staff meetings and events as needed.
  • Acting as the “gatekeeper” and “gateway” role, providing a bridge for smooth communication between the Managing Partner and other organization team members, demonstrating leadership to maintain credibility, trust, and support with the Management Team. Completing projects by assigning work to appropriate team members, including the Management Team, on behalf of the Managing Partner.

 

Office Management

  • Managing all aspects of organization’s office services. Evaluate and assist in developing office policies and procedures for improved workflow and anticipating future needs as organization grows. Assisting in the selection of vendors and purchase of equipment, services, and supplies necessary for operation of Agency.
  • Managing information systems operations including hardware, software, desktop support, internal telecommunications, and strategic systems development and planning.
  • Prepare budget recommendations and solution options.
  • Replenishing office materials such as snacks, printer supplies, paper, office supplies, etc.
  • Providing event management support as requested.
  • Providing hospitality to all guests and help to create a welcoming environment.
  • Answering main phone line and respond to inquiries.
  • Processing and distributing daily mail.
  • Investing in building long-lasting relationships both externally and internally.
  • Managing petty cash reimbursements and reconciliation.
  • Other projects/duties as assigned for the overall benefit of the organization.

Skills required

  • Bachelor’s degree from a reputable university
  • Proven experience working in a demanding administrative support role, and handling confidential information
  • 7+ years’ experience in a similar role, working for international working environment
  • An interest and desire to learn more about the creative and digital industry
  • A high level of organization skills, efficient time management, integrity and confidentiality
  • Impeccable communication skills to deal with conflict and negotiate a win-win outcome
  • Experience in dealing with senior level clientele/individuals
  • A professional presentation, etiquette and work ethic
  • Punctuality at all times, and required to be arriving before the Managing Partner
  • Proactivity, strong mediation skills and problem-solving skills
  • A willingness to learn and work hard to get it right
  • High proficiency in English and Chinese (English is our main language used in the office)
  • Experience with MS Word, PPT, Excel, WordPress and/or Photoshop and other project management/CRM would be an added advantage

Graphic Designer

Title: Graphic Designer
Location: Shanghai
Position: Full Time
Reporting to: Design Director or Creative Lead

 

Responsibilities:

  • Take briefs as part of a wider creative team and help generate ideas to present back to the Design Director or Creative Lead
  • Have a good knowledge and the ability to execute a range of different design styles and layouts
  • Assist graphic designers on various print, online and on-site projects
  • Coordinate and prepare final artwork with printers and suppliers as required
  • Excellent communication skills, attention to detail, plus proofing skills
  • Ability to prioritize projects, as well as work under pressure to meet deadlines, and across multiple projects
  • Image research
  • Maintaining project and image files
  • Have a desire to learn new graphic design and illustration applications
  • Think proactively on behalf of the agency, considering new design/digital initiatives, trends and tools on forthcoming projects
  • Be a passionate, resourceful and helpful team player
  • Help with supporting ongoing pitch work

 

The Successful Candidate:

  • Must be fluent in Chinese (Chinese National is preferred)
  • At least 3 years working experience in a graphic design role, preferably in a global agency (nice to have, but not essential)
  • Strong background in Photoshop, Illustrator and InDesign
  • Strong layout skills (colour, typography and composition)
  • Can work independently and as part of a team
  • Good communication skills
  • Self-motivated and takes initiative
  • Have a good understanding of print media, digital media, branding and interactive design
  • A willingness to stay current: keeping skills and knowledge update to industry trends

We have an exciting opportunity for a Marketing Specialist to join our team!

 

As the Agency’s Marketing Specialist, you will be responsible for:

  • Developing the entire marketing plan across our key markets as well as leading the execution of marketing programs from start to finish while leveraging internal support and driving collaboration, to ensure our marketing programs meet specific objectives across different channels and segments
  • Staying abreast of industry news, technology and innovation trends to ensure that the Agency is always delivering exceptional creative branding strategies and solutions for our clients and community
  • Conducting listening and conducting analytics reporting across multiple platforms whilst extracting key insights for future campaign development and go-to-market strategies
  • Continuously refining branded content, marketing assets and our overall marketing programs that enhance our marketing efforts
  • Establishing global and local partnerships and alliances to drive key online and offline events (webinars, co-branding initiatives, podcasts, interviews, client events and so forth) that will boost our overall industry leadership positioning for China and APAC
  • Leading new marketing initiatives leveraging our existing community and database to nurture existing client relationships and drive new business including newsletters, thought leadership pieces, industry news that will add value to our community
  • Partnering with creative, performance marketing and digital teams to test, refine and enhance our brand communications including print, digital, and video assets
  • Curating and managing branded content which includes all branded online platforms as well as updates for customer and internal touch points.
  • Being responsible for overall marketing budget, project timelines, deliverables and planning of resources
  • Ensuring that the Agency’s brand messaging, look and feel on all public-facing material is consistent across all marketing channels
  • Participating in new business pitches, brainstorming sessions, client presentations and business industry or client events as required

The ideal candidate will have the following skills:

  • Minimum 5 years’ working experience in the creative, brand or marketing field
  • Worked in a multinational or international working environment – agency preferred – and understands the overall China/APAC marketing landscape
  • Must have excellent written and verbal communication skills in both English and Mandarin
  • Proven experience developing marketing plans and campaigns with success, and driving business value
  • Sound knowledge of Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, Pinterest, Instagram, Google+, WeChat, Douyin, Weibo and other social media best practices
  • Demonstrated ability to solve problems independently, and ask for support when required
  • Ability to work under pressure, on a million things, yet still be able to keep their cool
  • Ability to present and manage senior level clients
  • An appreciation for metrics-driven marketing programs
  • Experience with marketing automation and CRM tools
  • A willingness to learn and work hard to get it right

 

We will place priorities on candidates who have the below skillset:
