The Street Fighter theme continues in today’s Siuper. Yesterday we had Chun Li face off against the first round winner Guile. In this round we have Dhalsim versus Ryu “defeater of the mighty bear”
Ryu versus Zangief… FIGHT!
Not much time to write this today as I spent most of my time sketching and then changing the overall composition (going over my allotted 30 minutes for the daily sketch!)
The first sketch didn’t work as I didn’t like the overall layout.
I then uploaded the final image into Adobe Illustrator to thicken the lines before exporting to Photoshop to color the image.
My favorite computer game growing up and probably of all time is a little known game called Street Fighter! it was one of those computer games that anyone could play. Some people would play with skill and time their fireballs and others would just mash all the buttons together at the same time.
My favorite player was Ken, he was the less skilled but more cocky player compared to the lead character, Ryu.
Below are tow other characters from the game Blanka and Guile. Those who play the game will realize Guile is not in fact hugging Blanka but preparing him for one of his back-breaking throws.. or is he??
Continuing down the route of nostalgic Cartoons I watched as kid, today’s Siuper is dedicated to those turtles in a half shell. With the Thundercats being cancelled, the Turtles are coming back to the small screen via Nickelodeon. After several movies, live action show, musical stage show, video games, numerous comic books and even their own food tie-ins! They will be back at the end of this month with their third TV show. This time the turtles have had certain weapons upgrades which seem a little disturbing as Nunchakus were banned in the UK and now Michelangelo has been upgraded to a Kusarigami (as pictured below)
Will be interesting to see how they make this series work for kids!
I found out yesterday to my dismay the new series of Thundercats which began last year has now been officially cancelled! I am pretty sure no one really knew about it and that’s why it ended before it even really began.
The Thundercats was a hit Children’s show in the 80′s with over 100 episodes over a period of 5 seasons. It was one of the reasons i would run home from school to watch it on TV. They decided to revive the show a few years ago giving it a manga feel. 26 episodes were made for season 1, with low tv ratings and a poorly designed toy line the show will not be renewed for a second season
